Terms and refunds
The plain terms for buying and using Cashington: what a license gives you, the free trial, refunds, and the limits of what we promise. Effective 25 October 2026.
The short version
- One payment, no subscription. A license covers your household on up to 3 computers, Windows and Mac in any mix.
- Try everything free for 14 days. After the trial, without a license, you can still view, export and back up everything.
- Changed your mind? Ask for a refund within 30 days of buying and you get your money back, no questions asked.
- Every 1.x update is included. The copy you bought keeps working, whatever you buy later or don't.
- Your books stay on your computer, so keeping backups is up to you. Cashington is a ledger, not financial advice.
Who you're buying from
Cashington is made by Pedram Jahangiry, an independent developer in Logan, Utah, USA, trading as Cashington (“we”, “us”). Licenses are sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the reseller and merchant of record: it takes the payment, charges sales tax or VAT where it applies, issues the receipt and handles refunds. Your purchase is also covered by Lemon Squeezy’s buyer terms. These terms cover the app and the license.
Your license
A license lets the people in your household use Cashington for their own household finances, on up to 3 computers at a time (Windows and Mac combined). You activate the app on a computer with your license key, and you can deactivate a computer in Settings to move the license to another one. The license doesn’t expire.
You may not resell, rent or share your license key outside your household, use Cashington to run a bookkeeping service for other people, or try to get around the license check. The app remains our work: you buy a license to use it, not the app itself.
The free trial
Cashington starts with a free 14-day trial with every feature, and no card needed. When the trial ends, the app stays readable: you can view, export and back up everything you entered, and a license key unlocks editing again. Nothing you entered is deleted.
Price and updates
The price is shown at checkout in US dollars, plus sales tax or VAT where it applies. Founding prices and discount codes apply only while their offer lasts. Your purchase includes every 1.x update. A future major version may be sold as a separate upgrade; if it is, the version you own keeps working.
Refunds
If Cashington isn’t right for you, ask for a refund within 30 days of your purchase and you get the full amount back, no questions asked. Reply to your receipt email or write to support@cashington.app with your order number. Lemon Squeezy returns the payment to the card or account you paid with; your bank may take a few days to show it. A refunded license key is deactivated, and the app goes back to the after-trial state: everything stays viewable and exportable.
Your data and your backups
Your ledger, statements and backups live only on your computer; we never receive them (see the privacy policy). That also means we can’t recover them for you. Cashington keeps automatic backups beside your ledger and lets you download a password-protected backup; please keep a copy on another device. If you forget the password of a downloaded backup, nobody can open it, including us.
Bank connections
Bank connections are optional and run through your own SimpleFIN account, under your own agreement with SimpleFIN and its fees. SimpleFIN is a separate company: we don’t control its service or the data your bank sends through it, and we’re not responsible for them. Statement import works without a connection.
Not financial advice
Cashington organises the numbers you give it. It doesn’t give financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and its totals, charts and reports are only as accurate as the statements and entries behind them. Check anything important against your bank’s own records before you rely on it.
No warranty, and the limit of our liability
We work hard to make Cashington reliable, and we fix the problems you report. Even so, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, such as lost data, lost savings or lost profits, and our total liability for any claim about Cashington is limited to the amount you paid for your license. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you, and nothing here takes away rights you have by law.
Ending a license
You can stop using Cashington at any time. We may deactivate a license key that was refunded, charged back, bought fraudulently or shared outside these terms. Either way, the books on your computer stay yours and stay readable.
Changes, law and contact
We may update these terms, for example when the app changes; the effective date at the top says when. A change never takes away what you already bought. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the law where you live says otherwise. Questions: support@cashington.app.
